Mark VanNess was born and raised in North Carolina and has been tattooing since 1997.  He has worked in many states and countries over the past two decades. Known as a freehand tattoo artist who works in Japanese, Traditional, and Illustrative styles, those are not the only tools in his shed. He is also a cover-up specialist. Mark enjoys finding creative ways to get rid of a client’s past, sometimes regretful tattoos, and turning them into works of art. There’s nothing like giving a client a second chance to love their tattoo. 

Mark believes it’s not just about the craft he offers, but the experience.  He’s an open book with an old soul, enjoying getting to know and understand his clients’ needs for their tattoos, as well as their comfort. 

When he’s not tattooing, you can bet he’s either being a family man with his son and partner, doing outdoor activities, or spending time throwing pottery, painting ceramics, and other mediums, and spending time with his four dogs.
